Beyond Marrs

Last night, we flew into Singapore during a thunder-and-lightning storm. As I looked out of the window, I could see bright bolts of lighting flash across the sky, illuminating the clouds around us. When we landed, we took a taxi to the guest house that we are staying at. I woke up in the morning and went to a small local cafe with dad. We ate, and then took a walk around the neighborhood. For some reason, there were roosters everywhere! It thundered off and on the whole day, and it rained very hard for a couple of minutes in the morning. In the late morning/early afternoon, we took the metro to Chinatown, which we explored for a little while. We visited the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum, which had beautiful statues and carvings, and we found a bite to eat. I had some delicious dumplings, mom and dad had noodle soup, and typical Willem had chicken nuggets and fries. After that, we visited Marina Bay Sands, where we explored the area, including looking at Singapore’s mascot statue, the giant Merlion fountain on the bay. After that, we walked the river, past the sweet-smelling magnolia trees and the seafood shops, and back to the metro, which we took back to our guest house, where I am writing this post right now on the top bunk in our room.
